with Lama Norlha

Transcript:

Relict. Arona. Tonight is our first meeting ever in this new location. I'll try. I don't have much more words to start with. Tonight, on the occasion of our first meeting in a new location, Rinpoche said that he's very, very moved to hear you reciting the verses that were written many years ago for him by his own teacher.

[01:01]

And also a verse written by . Thank you very much. That we are able at all to

[02:44]

hear the teachings of liberation which were taught by Lord Buddha many centuries, thousands of years ago in a foreign land. depends to a great extent upon the kindness of those masters and teachers who have very unselfishly and often at great sacrifice have given their lives towards transmitting that teaching, from realizing and transmitting that teaching from his time down to ours, so that even today, centuries later, we are able to hear these very same teachings and have also the same opportunity to obtain the same result of ultimate liberation. This kindness of the gurus, of these former teachers, we should never forget. especially the great kindness of those compassionate lamas, masters who founded the Sakya Order, the Five Jetsuns, as they're known, and their illustrious disciples, such as Morchen Dorje Chang, and all the different teachers of the Tsar and war tradition who, from their time until the present,

[04:30]

have very carefully passed on those teachings intact in remembrance of their great kindness and of their great selflessness, through which we all are able to share in the benefits of the Dharma. to and have, so to speak, a door to all the limitless good results, the limitless benefits of this teaching throughout all future time for ourselves. But this, in remembrance of those kind teachers, Rinpoche has brought to the first meeting tonight a small drawing a picture of those five great teachers. And also, he's brought three very small images of the Buddha, of the Hevajra, and of Mahakala, the protector of the Sakya teachings.

[05:40]

These are very small images. It's true. And they aren't expensive. But they are from India. and represented to Rinpoche some years ago. And he brought them tonight as a kind of symbolic to symbolize the significance of this first meeting of ours in which we are able to remember those deities and those great compassionate teachers. It's right that we mark our first meeting in this location by invoking the blessings of the

[07:23]

of the teachers and the deities upon our efforts to study and reflect and meditate upon the Dharma in this place and to sanctify the place to those same dharmic efforts that we have in mind. And it's a particular custom in Tibet, and especially the sake order that in all such occasions that there be a brief ceremony which is called the chasun, which I can't translate. But it's a small ritual which the lamas will perform on our behalf. And they'll chant a few auspicious verses. And this will mark our first meeting here. And then we'll go into our regular meditation. Then you tell her, .

[08:42]

. [...] Now, this particular ceremony, the chasun, consists of consecrating and offering three formas which the doctor will be preparing.

[10:06]

Formas are kind of chronicles offering cakes. And the first of these will be offered to the Buddhas and bodhisattvas, to all the deities, to invoke their blessings. It will be offered also to the protectors of the Dharma to invoke their presence in this place and their blessings on our efforts here. The second torma will be offered to all the unfortunate beings, such as the ghosts and other beings in fallen realms, in order to remove their suffering. and to enable them to have a share also in our religious efforts here. The third of these turmas or offerings is intended to remove all obstacles to the practice of Dharma that might be here. It's to invite all those hostile or malignant spirits to go elsewhere.

[11:10]

And it will remove all obstacles to the practice, whatever obstacles, in and out of it, might arise to this place. And it consecrates this spot for the pure practice of dharma. As I say, it is to remove all those obstacles, to purify possible obstacles to the individuals and the people who have been meditating and working here, and to ask malignant beings who might be in this area to leave. . Then he said, I want to go to the temple. He said, I don't want to go. He said, I don't want to go. He said, I don't want to go.

[12:12]

Following this, an offering will be made to the special deities, the patron deities of the Sakyamuni, and especially to the wrathful protectors, the guardians of the Dharma, Mahakala in its various forms, and especially the great Sakyam Protector, Chaturamukha, and Mahakala, Chittibati, and various others. protectors, guardians, will be invoked. And they will be requested to protect this place, to remove all obstacles to the practice and the accomplishment of Dharma here, that this will remain an undisturbed place of peace where people can come and study and practice the Dharma without obstacles, inner or outer.

[13:40]

If you don't believe me, I will tell you the truth. If you don't believe me, I will tell you the truth. If you don't believe me, I will tell you the truth. I will tell you the truth. Thank you. Rinpoche had a had originally intended to begin the ceremony.

[14:53]

Knowing that he would be giving a special ceremony tonight, he had originally intended to be here at 7.30. But for a number of reasons, we weren't able to begin the ceremony on time. He asked for your pardon for the delay. We'll, as usual, we'll recite, we'll do our meditation of Chin Rezi of the Bodhisattva Compassion. We'll do that first so that the doctor will be able to prepare the particular traumas. And then following that, we'll do the regular meditation. Would somebody pass up those yellow books on the back to people who don't have them and I don't? Yes. You need that too. Yes. If you want to know more, go to our website.

[16:07]

Then I went to the doctor and he told me that I didn't have to go to the doctor. He told me that I didn't have to go to the doctor. He told me that I didn't have to go to the doctor. He said that I didn't have to go to the doctor. Thank you. Satsang with Mooji
