March 1st, 2010, Serial No. 03722
This morning we recited a text concerning some ancestors. This morning we recited an encouragement from an ancestor to sit upright making correct argument also. Puzzled in a curve, he went for the ceremony of skilling. Actually, we've practiced here now for five days, quite a few hours of just practicing the ceremony of sitting upright in correct bodily posture.
[01:26]
I would say that perhaps it would be helpful to say authentic bodily posture. The upright being the authentic bodily posture. And I would also extend the encouragement to all postures, day and night. The Buddhas encourage us, no matter what posture we're in, to be in that posture authentically. Moment by moment, be attentive to the body.
[02:39]
And practice the body authentically. Practice the authentic body posture. I also have a prayer that if we concentrate our efforts single-mindedly, that in itself is the negotiation of the Buddha way. I'm speaking now about
[03:51]
rather simple practice in the present. Concentrate your effort single-mindedly. on authentic sitting posture. In a conventional world, I see everyone in this room sitting. Everyone is actually right now making effort to sit upright on this chair. That's how it appears to me.
[04:55]
And so now I say again that since we're sitting, the Buddha ancestors tell us that if we single-mindedly concentrate our efforts in what we're doing right now, This is negotiation of the Buddha way. This is the faith of the ancestors of this lineage. This is an expression of their faith to say this and to practice it. When we stand up, it's the same. The single-mindedly concentrate our efforts in standing upright in an authentic, positive posture.
[06:09]
In this way, throughout the day and night, we can practice the Buddha way. While you're sitting upright, you may notice that you're breathing.
[07:17]
At that time, the instruction could be to concentrate your grip single-mindedly. And breathe in. Genuinely, authentically breathe. Wholeheartedly inhale and wholeheartedly exhale. in practice of concentrating our efforts and wholeheartedly sitting upright or wholeheartedly breathing.
[09:10]
In that wholeheartedness, There is no room for trying to get anything. There is no room for trying to get anything in this kind of city. And there's no need to get anything, because this kind of city is already a negotiation of the wood away. And the Buddha way is not trying to get anything. The Buddha way is just the way of maintaining the Buddha way. So again, the ancestors say that when you practice this way, you are maintaining the essential working of the Buddha way.
[10:15]
If you are sitting and trying to get anything from sitting, If you're mindful of your posture and trying to get anything from mindfulness of posture, if you're mindful of your breathing and trying to get anything from mindfulness of breathing, this is not wholehearted, concentrated effort. If you're practicing wholehearted concentrated effort, if you're trying to and you're trying to get wholehearted concentrated effort, this is not wholehearted concentrated effort. If concentrated efforts aren't wholeheartedly good, that means you're not trying to get anywhere. There's no need to get anything when you're living this way, because living this way saves all sentient beings.
[11:19]
When the good ancestors sit, this is how they sit. When they breathe, this is how they breathe. When they walk, this is how they walk. And when we practice like this, we are Buddha and his sisters. Practicing this way is simply the diamond door of complete repose and bliss, totally culminated practice of enlightenment.
[15:48]
Those who enter the practice do so for the welfare of others, and they're not trying to get any repose and bliss. But also, practicing this way, they cannot avoid it. They are overwhelmed and inhabited by repose and bliss. which they constantly give away. If you want the complete repose and bliss of the Buddhas, simply give up trying to get it. Add wholeheartedly in yourself, in your body, or at home.
[17:13]
All the mudras and bodhisattvas, all the ancestors from this lineage, are intimate with us, are here now, giving their support for us to practice this way. May we accept this support and practice the Buddha way. sitting, standing, and walking upright, and even reclining upward. Inauthentic, intimate, wholehearted, utmost.
[18:57]
Moment. Moment. Why? Bar-A-D Bar-A-E Please.
[20:24]
Compassion. Clear air. Hello. the present body.
[21:52]
Or. As. They. Se. In. In the one. There is a bug.
[23:16]
May we fully accept the responsibility of maintaining this essential working of the Buddha way. May God bless you.
