Outside and inside, the moon is waxing. Every moment, we can see more of the moon. For seven days the moon will grow. We have the great auspiciousness to be able to witness it growing. It will become full at the end of the seven days.

[01:02]

This is just the way it is. Now we have the opportunity to simply be one with what is happening. For seven days simply be aware of the growing moon. a beating heart, a breathing body,

[05:13]

Each of us has a genius, a genius which guards what we actually are. The zazen practice, which we do here, is called the practice of suchness.

[07:54]

There is no preparation for this practice. It is simply what is. You already are doing it. Please continue. This practice of zazen is a non-dual practice.

[09:23]

You don't do it, and no one does it for you. It is simply what is. Our ability to appreciate completely just what is happening is supported by our compassionate heart

[11:16]

which appreciates the suffering of all beings and wishes the very best for each living being. Our non-dual practice which doesn't come or go, is supported by the aspiration for complete perfect awakening. The successful practice of suchness is not accomplished by each of us and it's not accomplished by anybody else.

[13:51]

The Buddhas and Bodhisattvas don't do this practice for us either. This practice arises and is supported by our communion with Buddha. We don't do this communion. Buddha doesn't do this communion. We do it together. There's no us without Buddha. There's no Buddha without us. Please witness this communion.

[15:00]

Give rise to the mind of compassion for all beings. aspire to Buddhahood and practice just sitting with the faith that all skills of compassion all wisdom and insights necessary to help living beings come forth from the mind of compassion, the aspiration for complete enlightenment and the practice of suchness.

[16:07]

All week long and you're sitting still, you are practicing suchness. In my Dharma talks, I will discuss how to produce the mind of compassion through the six paramitas which make possible the practice of zazen, which support the practice of non-dual observation, of simply

[17:30]

which is the mother of all the Buddhas. Perfect generosity, perfect ethical conduct, Perfect patience. Perfect courageous effort. Perfect concentration and perfect wisdom. So I'd like to invite you to now return to Buddha.

[19:56]

Take refuge in Buddha. Enter communion with Buddha. with Dharma and with Sangha. And from this communion, sing forth your vow, your bodhisattva vows, and use these refuges and use these vows all week throughout the day to support the incomparable practice of just what is just sitting just walking

[21:15]

Just eating. Just serving. Just washing. Just cleaning. Simply what is. The first paramita is perfect generosity, completely overcoming all stinginess. Let's see if we can completely give our heart to awakening, to the truth, and to the community.

[22:23]

I take refuge in Buddha.
